Niamh O’Grady

Niamh O’Grady’s hometown is Sarasota, Florida. She earned a BA in biochemistry and molecular biology from Washington University in St. Louis, where she worked in a research laboratory focused on microbial glycobiology and women’s health. O’Grady also competed on the university’s varsity swimming team and is decorated in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and individual medley. She is a six-time All American, a University Athletic Association (UAA) champion, and a four-time All-UAA champion. “Both of these experiences, in the lab and on the swim team, influenced my decision to pursue a career in pharmacy and apply what I’ve learned about the scientific process and teamwork to working with patients and other health care providers to improve patient care through expertise in medications.” She is the pharmacogenomics liaison for the Precision Medicine Student Alliance, an interdisciplinary organization committed to promoting awareness about precision medicine on campus, and is a co-founder of Student Taught Education in Pharmacy (STEP), a new peer teaching program in which second-year pharmacy students will help first-year students approach and understand material in the School’s new PharmD curriculum.
