Saul Villeda

Saul Villeda trained as a developmental biologist in the lab of Patricia Phelps at UCLA and earned his Ph.D. in neuroscience from Stanford University. At Stanford he initially trained as a neural stem cell biologist with Anne Brunet, then went on to complete his doctoral work under the training of Tony Wyss-Coray, investigating how systemic changes in aging blood contribute to age-related impairments in neural stem cell function and cognitive processes. Villeda joined the UCSF faculty in 2012 as a faculty fellow in the Department of Anatomy and the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research.
